PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
The BLS with a major in Interdisciplinary Studies will be offered in fall 2001 via the Regents On-Line Degree Initiative. This web-based baccalaureate degree is designed to meet the needs of Tennessee residents whose access to higher education is limited. It is designed especially for adults who have completed the A.A. (Associate of Arts) or the A.S. (Associateof Science) degree, or have earned approximately 60 college credits. This degree is not designed for those who have previously earned a four-year degree, but is for adult students whose work, geographic location, family obligation, and/or other restrictions make attendance at traditional campus courses difficult and unlikely. All courses required will be available on-line or through other means of distance learning.
PROGRAM SUMMARY
The Bachelor of Liberal Studies with a major in Interdisciplinary
Studies provides students the opportunity to tailor make a degree
program around a particular interest or career goal the other majors at
the university do not meet. Working within a structured format, students
select courses for their major from two distinct academic areas.
While this program is part of the Regents Online Degree Program and can
be completed entirely online, students who wish a traditional classroom
setting can also be admitted to the program. Note that students who
wish to pursue this degree are not required to take any online classes
with the exception of the Senior Project, UNIV 4995. Students are
allowed to take a combination of online and on-campus courses if this
meets their schedule needs.
